Feature & Follow #2

Feature and Follow

Feature and Follow is hosted by the amazing people over at Parajunkee and Alison Can Read and is basically a way for blogs to gain new followers and to find some cool new ones to follow as well. If you do get followed please be courteous and follow them back via their preferred method.

If you would be so kind as to follow me, and I of course will follow back, you can do so via email, Linky or Networked Blogs, I do not have a preference and thank any of you who do follow. Also let me know how you follow me too! 🙂

This week’s question is: “When you step out of your USUAL genre what do you like to read? Best books in that genre?”

This one doesn’t really apply to me because I read all sorts of books. I read anything from Grisham to King, Tolkien to Malcolm Gladwell and everything in between. I’ll read any genre if the book is written well, though I obviously run into things that aren’t. To give you some idea here are the last five books I have read and their genre:

Stitch by Samantha Durante – Dystopian Sci-fi with Paranormal Romance

Here Lies Death by Harlan Vaughn – Sci-fi/Fantasy with a lot of violence/gore

The Reanimation of Edward Schuett by Derek J. Goodman – Horror with lots of zombies

Dark Light of Day by Jill Archer – Fantasy with angels, demons and magic

The Broker by John Grisham – Thriller/Mystery (this was a re-read)

What about you? What genres are outside your normal comfort zone and do you have any favorites? Make sure to follow and comment too, I read them all and would love to hear what you have to say! Thanks for stopping by. ^.^

  4. Jessica@a GREAT read

I totally stick to one genre. But to defend myself, there are different kinds of paranormals I read. Some are dystopians with paranormal elements, or steampunk with paranormal elements. Fantasies with magic. Mysteries with people who can see ghosts or have psychic abilities.

There’s a tons of flavors in the paranormal genre for me and that’s why I love it so much! Plus paranormal people are just awesome!

    Here’s my Follow Friday

    Have a GREAT weekend!

  5. I read lots of different genres, too. Some I don’t – like sci-fi or dystopian. But I like contemporary, mystery, fantasy, paranormal, romance.

  6. Hopping through. That is a wide genre of books. It’s cool that you read so widely.

  8. I actually haven’t read any of those! I like that you read a mix, though, instead of one particular thing. That can be hard to do when you blog!

Following you back via WordPress. 🙂

  13. Thanks for the follow! I believe that reading one genre is limiting, so why do it? Too many good books out there.

What exactly is dystopian sci fi?

Have you ever read Lincoln & Child’s Pendergast series? They defy genre – thrillers, but so much more. The kind that have you turning the page to find out what comes next!

Returned the follow via email. Have a great Friday!

    • Dystopian essentially is about societies that are completely flawed/imperfect, opposite of a utopian society. I have never read the Pendergast series though I had heard of it before. Thanks! ^.^
