Sunday Post #24

Sunday Post hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by the amazing Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It is a chance to share news, recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

I love participating in Sunday Post because I can provide a recap of books I read, talk about what is coming up next week, and discuss any books I received in the past week!

This week I didn’t really go after too many books, but I did get a couple eBooks and NetGalleys that I’ll share. ^.^

Tuesday – Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Books I’m Not Sure I Want To Read

Wednesday – Waiting on Wednesday: The Glass Arrow by Kristen Simmons

Thursday – Killing My Kindle: Alexander Death by J.L. Bryan

Friday – Frodo’s Frisky Friday: He Needs Discipline by Dominic Rod

Saturday – Book of the Week: Horde by Ann Aguirre

—————————————————————————————————————————————————

Another successful blogging week, and a great reading week is in the books! (Book blog puns are fun! ^.^) I finally read Horde, a book I had been saving for quite a while, and it was every bit as good as I could have hoped for. Alexander Death was a nice return to a series I’ve enjoyed and He Needs Discipline definitely satiated my naughty read for the week. Overall I was pretty happy with getting the books in that I did because the week was a little hectic.

For those who stopped by last week, you know I was dealing with some real life issues involving getting into the University, but it’s all good because I got the last appeal approved! Huzzah! I’ll be starting classes in just a couple weeks which is a bit crazy, but I’ve already got my books and I’ve been trying to study a bit to get ahead. Yay, education?! >.>

As far as blogging goes it went well as you can see since I had another week of daily posts, yay! I don’t know if that will continue when classes start and assuming I’ll have a work study job, but I’ll keep you posted. (More puns!) Thanks for stopping by, I hope you had a great bookish week, and thanks for reading. Enjoy your Sunday!

Wednesday – Waiting on Wednesday: Sacrifice by Brigid Kemmerer

Thursday – Killing My Kindle: Elusive Memories by Amanda Shofner

Friday – Frodo’s Frisky Friday: Daybreak by Leigh Wilder

Saturday – Book of the Week: Rogue by Gina Damico

—————————————————————————————————————————————————

This was another fun blogging week, but a bit of an up and down reading one. I loved Rogue and Daybreak, and I Hunt Killers was thrilling in its own way, but there were a few books I had been looking forward to that either I didn’t enjoy or were just alright. Still, I have plenty of books that I am excited to get to, so hopefully this next week will be a bit better!

Getting back to consistent posts has been a lot of fun for me, and it has kept me distracted from real life which has been a pain as of late. I’ve been working since May on jumping through all the hoops, but this week I found out I won’t be on campus for at least the first semester back at the University of Minnesota, and I might not be at all depending on a financial aid appeal. If that falls through things get ugly very quickly, but I’ll deal with that if/when it happens.

I don’t have set posts yet for this week, but hopefully I’ll be able to continue this run of daily (or nearly daily anyway) posts! I hope you enjoy! Thanks for stopping by, I hope you had a great bookish week, and thanks for reading. Enjoy your Sunday!

This week was a return to blogging in full force, both here and on my other two blogs that I’m working on. The best part was that it was simply for the love of doing it, and that made it incredibly fun and fulfilling. Being a content creator, even when it is just reviewing other people’s content, has to be a labor of love for me to do it, so times like this are awesome.

I read quite a bit this week too! I finished the Secrets of the Eternal Rose trilogy, read The Murder Complex, breezed through a few novellas that were sitting on my Kindle app, and finished it off with The Cutting Room Floor by Dawn Klehr! Having a great bookish week always makes everything better, and this was no exception.

I don’t know what I’ll be posting this coming week, but if the mood continues I’ll likely have at least a fair few for you all. I hope you enjoy! Thanks for stopping by, I hope you had a great bookish week as well, and thanks for reading. Enjoy your Sunday!

Ides of March Wrapup

Ides of March Read-a-thon

Well that could have went better. A combination of ALL THE FEELS from the two series ending books I did read (The Last Guardian by Eoin Colfer & The Last Olympian by Rick Riordan), sickness, and sports overload made it so I didn’t even read my usual book/day. This was probably the worst I’ve done in a readathon, especially one of this length, but oh well, nothing to be done now. School starts back up this week so I guess I’ll have to work around that too.

How did you do with your goals? Did you participate in any challenges? What was your favorite read for Ides of March? Let me know and thanks for reading! ^.^

Ides of March Readathon

Ides of March Read-a-thon

To help those doing the month long challenge Take Control of Your TBR Pile and for those who just want to participate for a few days and knock out some of those books piling up. To count towards the participation prize you must read a book published before March 1, 2014. This is an easy stressfree read-a-thon. Enter challenges, clean-up your TBR pile and make a few friends. If you would like to host a challenge please contact me!

As you all know I love readathons with a passion, and this one is being hosted by one of my favorite book bloggers, Kimberly at the Caffeinated Book Reviewer, so it is absolutely perfect! This also happens to fall on the end of my spring break so it is a great time to get some extra reading in before classes pick back up. Here are some of the books I am considering reading during the readathon! ^.^

The Last Guardian by Eoin Colfer

Rogue by Gina Damico

The Last Olympian by Rick Riordan

Emerald Green by Kerstin Gier

Friday – Frodo’s Frisky Friday

Sunday – Sunday Post

After getting so many books in the mail last week it was both weird and oddly relieving to not receive any this time around. I am trying to make my TBR piles get smaller after all, even though sometimes it doesn’t seem like it. I was much happier with the books I read this week, though Slaughterhouse-Five still bothers me as for how dull it was with such a great premise, but there is nothing to be done about that. Storm was fantastic, Lessons III and The Dragon’s Bride were great novellas, and Attachments increased my adoration for Rainbow Rowell’s writing prowess.

I posted my 2-month wrap-up very late last night so I encourage you to check that out. I talk about how challenges are going, what my favorite and least favorite books have been so far this year, and a few things I am looking forward to in the next couple months. Thanks for stopping by, feel free to leave a link to your Sunday Post or whatever other bookish meme you partake in over the weekend and I will be sure to check it out! Enjoy your Sunday! ^.^

Thursday – Killing My Kindle

Friday – Frodo’s Frisky Friday

Saturday – Book of the Week

Sunday – Sunday Post #20

As you can see the book haul was pretty great this week! I got some new MG to read (see yesterday’s post all about that!), a couple I had been considering for a while (Mind Games & Uses For Boys), and two recommendation books (Bruiser and D&LBoD) from Book Outlet for (as usual) crazy cheap. Attachments was another recommendation book that I saw on ze booktube, and Slaughterhouse-Five is because Crash Course (John Green in this case) is going Literary and it is giving me an excuse to read classics! ^.^

On the other hand is my reading week…goodness that was brutal. I had high hopes for Cruel Beauty with that gorgeous cover, but 2/5 was generous and I’m definitely a black sheep on that one. Speaking of sheep, Sheep and Wolves by one of my favorite authors, Jeremy C. Shipp, wasn’t bad, but comparatively not nearly as good as his other work. Anne Merchant was one I really had been looking forward to and for the most part it let me down, and don’t get me started on the atrocity that was the clown book. *shudders*

The bright spots were The Battle of the Dragon Slayer by my favorite “naughty” author Leigh Wilder, and especially Unearthly by Cynthia Hand which I will be reviewing next Saturday for Book of the Week! They saved what otherwise was a sluggish, disappointing, and altogether blah reading week, but as a whole it was probably the worst I’ve had so far this year.

On the blog I did two more “original” and random posts where I asked what kind of reader are you and also all about middle grade books and how I need more of them in my life, so that was a lot of fun! Thanks for stopping by, feel free to leave a link to your Sunday Post or whatever other bookish meme you partake in over the weekend and I will be sure to check it out! Enjoy your Sunday! ^.^
