Waiting on Wednesday #14

Waiting On Wednesday hosted by Breaking The Spine

“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by the fantastic people over at Breaking The Spine that highlights upcoming releases that we are excited about.

For this week my pre-publication selection that I can’t wait for is:

Dear Killer by Katherine Ewell

Set For Release On: April 1st, 2014

Summary From GoodreadsDear Killer by Katherine Ewell

Rule One—Nothing is right, nothing is wrong.
Rule Two—Be careful.
Rule Three—Fight using your legs whenever possible, because they’re the strongest part of your body. Your arms are the weakest.
Rule Four—Hit to kill. The first blow should be the last, if at all possible.
Rule Five—The letters are the law.

Kit takes her role as London’s notorious “Perfect Killer” seriously. The letters and cash that come to her via a secret mailbox are not a game; choosing who to kill is not an impulse decision. Every letter she receives begins with “Dear Killer,” and every time Kit murders, she leaves a letter with the dead body. Her moral nihilism and thus her murders are a way of life—the only way of life she has ever known.

But when a letter appears in the mailbox that will have the power to topple Kit’s convictions as perfectly as she commits her murders, she must make a decision: follow the only rules she has ever known, or challenge Rule One, and go from there.

What draws me into Dear Killer the most is that the summary on Amazon mentions that fans of Thirteen Reasons Why, my favorite book of 2013, would enjoy it. After that the rest is bonus points. I tend to like books with the “rules” to live by theme, and a female badass? I’m in! Just another great book coming out in April (of which there seem to be so many) this year! Squee!

Does Dear Killer sound like something you enjoy? Had you heard of it before (since it is a debut)? What book are you “Waiting On”? Let me know in the comments and/or leave a link to your own WoW post and I will make sure to stop by! Thanks for checking out my Waiting On Wednesday! ^.^

  1. I have a copy of this one, and it definitely sounds interesting. I mean, the concept is unique, and I wonder how morbid the story will be. Nice pick!

  3. Gahhh, I am so excited for this book, as well! It sounds so incredibly unique – how often do we see such morally ambiguous (or just amoral??) main characters? This is going to be QUITE an interesting, and hopefully intense, read. Fingers crossed for awesomeness!

  5. I remember reading and adding it to Goodreads a while back, but it does look like it could be good. I’d forgotten about it too lol.

    • The only reason half of these stay on my radar is because they are 2014 debuts. o_o If they weren’t on those lists I might have missed it!

  6. Hey Frodo! Squee! I can’t wait to read this. It sounds so interesting and very cool that I hope to read it soon. I did get an eARC of it so soon!! And the fact that it’s a teen author? More exciting! Hope you love it!

  7. I got an eARC of this one recently, and I’m really excited to start it. It does sound great, and I also loved 13 reasons why so I’m curious to see the parallels!
