Day 85: Happy Valentine’s Slay by Cameron Jace

Day 85

Summary From Goodreads

This is a special diary for the fans of the series the Grimm Diaries Prequels. I wanted you to read it as an apology since I have been slow with releasing the rest of the books, but I am working on it:) It includes, Jack, Ladle Rat, Marmalade, Wolfy, Pete, Sleeping Beauty, and and it is narrated by Willie Winkie.

It’s time for another edition of Frodo’s Hobbit Sized Reviews! This is where I write a review in the time I have before I go to work or before I go to bed. Short and sweet just like 2nd breakfast!

It’s been quite a while since I visited the world of the Grimm Diaries and I must say I missed those goofy but lovable characters that Jace has brought to life in a whole new way! Happy Valentine’s Slay has so many elements and characters that it can be hard to keep up if you don’t pay close attention. You have many overarching story lines, some good old-fashioned killing, dancing and kissing and of course someone causing all hell to break loose by being a bit careless. Hard to go wrong with that combination!

The characters are fun and easily likable, my favorites being Marmalade (can’t help but root for her) and Ladle Rat (the poor dear). The plot is a bit twisted around and the direction is hard to determine at times, but I think that fits with the people involved. The ending delivers quite the shock and makes one character all the more pitiable, though I doubt they’d like that reaction much. This was a good holdover prior to the release of the final prequels 11-14 and soon after the first full length novel that I’m so excited for, Snow White Sorrow. Until the 28th when the 11-14 prequels are released the previous bundles (1-6 here & 7-10 here) are 99cents each, and I highly encourage you to check them out, definitely worth the small price! Thanks as always for reading and come back tomorrow for Day 86!
