Review: The Ups and Downs of Being Dead by M. R. Cornelius
The Ups and Downs of Being Dead by M. R. Cornelius
I am going to have to keep this short and sweet because I want to finish reading Full Blooded by Amanda Carlson tonight and get that review completed though it might have to wait until tomorrow. Anyway enough of my rambling!
Before I delve into my review I just want to mention that I am fascinated by what happens when you die, the afterlife (if there is one) and things of the sort so this book really appealed to me from the start. I will say I had to keep a bit more than I would like in generalities because if I said much more it would give too much away and I want everyone that reads this to enjoy the book for themselves! With that said let’s get right into it.
I really liked this book. I was fully invested in it from start to finish wondering what was going to happen to the protagonist and what experiences he would have. I also was constantly thinking of what I would love to do if I was in this situation and how I would react. Fostering that connection between myself and the characters is huge for me in truly enjoying any book and this one allowed me to do that with ease even though I didn’t really share a similar mindset with the main character. I also really enjoyed the romance in the book, with them being dead I wasn’t sure how that would work out but it did wonderfully. The character development overall was superb, especially the main character’s transformation. Oh and the ENDING! Fabulous.
As far as any complaints I might have for this book it is pretty limited, there were a few missed words in it early on which is expected for an e-book, but overall it was very sound and the couple errors did not hinder the experience whatsoever.
A solid read, I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a fresh take on the afterlife and of course to know what it is like being dead. Enjoy!
